How we think about it

A fall cleanup done in one pass in December is not a cleanup, it is a tidy. Oak leaves on the Main Line come down over about six weeks, and a lawn left under them goes into winter smothered.

Aeration and overseeding land in September for a reason: cool nights, warm soil, and the seed gets established before the first frost. Miss that window and the same work in spring gets a fraction of the result.

We do not plow snow or salt drives. If you need that, we would rather tell you now than take the booking.

Questions we get asked

  • What is typically included in a fall cleanup?

    Leaf removal from lawn, beds and hard surfaces, in more than one pass as the trees actually drop. Perennials cut back where they should be, beds re-edged, gutters and drains cleared of what has landed in them, and a final cut of the lawn low enough that it goes into winter clean. On properties with mature oaks it is a November-long job, not an afternoon.

  • When should fall cleanup be done?

    As the leaves come down, not after. On the Main Line the drop runs from late October into December, and a lawn left under wet leaves for three weeks goes into winter smothered. We schedule the passes to the trees on the property, and the last one lands after the last big drop and before the leaves freeze onto the grass.
